Project Summary

Five Jars upgraded a nonprofit's Drupal 7 website to Drupal 10, migrating user roles, content structure and the database while implementing usability upgrades. The vendor completed the four-phase migration and testing plan, delivered the site on time and on budget, and maintained transparent, responsive communication throughout the engagement.

Key Challenges

  • Create a coach and administrator interface closely matching the existing Drupal 7 site
  • Update the Drupal 7 website to Drupal 10 due to Drupal 7 end-of-life
  • Import the database from the Drupal 7 site, including coach and client information

Project Deliverables

  • Migrated Drupal 7 site to Drupal 10
  • Migrated user roles, users, content structure, taxonomy, and database
  • Implemented a new theme and custom coding for various user views
  • Migrated forms and form submissions and programmed analytics and menus
  • Performed UI and browser testing
  • Provided weekly planning reports and monthly reports via Basecamp

Project Solution

Five Jars assigned a small team (2-5 employees) to replicate and upgrade the client's Drupal 7 site to Drupal 10. The work proceeded in four phases: initial setup and migration of user roles, users, content structure and taxonomy (including theme setup); content mapping, migration and block type creation; forms and form submission migrations plus analytics and menu programming; and final theming and custom coding for user views. UI and browser testing were performed throughout. Deliverables included continual updates to the development site and weekly and monthly planning reports via Basecamp.

Project Outcome

  • Delivered on time and on budget
  • Achieved appearance and functionality nearly identical to the original site
  • Provided a transparent, well-managed project with rapid communication and clear documentation
