Project Summary

TestArmy provides testing services for a yacht rental platform's mobile apps and website, performing regression, UX, edge-case and cross-platform testing. They run an initial two-week discovery sprint, test in staging across multiple devices, report defects in Pivotal Tracker, and communicate via Slack. Their work has prevented major bugs from reaching production.

Key Challenges

  • Ensure reliable QA for mobile apps and website to prevent critical post-release bugs
  • Improve bug reporting and user-acceptance testing to provide a consistently great user experience

Project Deliverables

  • Regression testing
  • User experience testing
  • Edge-case testing
  • Bug reports logged in Pivotal Tracker
  • Daily summaries and Slack notifications

Project Solution

TestArmy began with a two-week discovery sprint to learn the app, then moved to full-time engagement. They conduct regression, user experience, edge-case and cross-platform testing in a staging environment, test on multiple devices (buying devices when needed), and log bugs in Pivotal Tracker while communicating status and summaries via Slack. They do not perform bug fixes but provide detailed reports and recommendations; the client is also exploring adding security testing after some issues were identified.

Project Outcome

  • No major bugs reached production after major updates
  • Only one to two edge-case issues reported as outliers
  • Improved responsiveness and transparency via Slack and daily summaries
  • Comprehensive bug tracking in Pivotal Tracker
