Project Summary

Requestum deployed two Symfony developers to enhance and maintain the CMS of a multinational home & living e-commerce company. They implemented new shipping rules, updated email templates, added features and dashboards, and connected multiple APIs to improve stock, order, shipment and refund workflows. The client praised direct communication via Skype and Asana and the vendor's hands-on developers.

Key Challenges

  • Maintenance and improvement of existing functions.

Project Deliverables

  • Middleware application for product, stock, order, shipment and refund data
  • Integrations with WooCommerce, Bol.com, Wayfair, Channable and supplier/finance/shipping APIs
  • Admin panel for employees
  • Shipment scanning interface for suppliers
  • Returned product forms for end customers
  • Reporting tool for accountants

Project Solution

Requestum provided candidate CVs and performed test tasks; two Symfony developers were hired. They built and maintained a middleware application that handles product, stock, order, shipment, returned product and refund data. The solution integrated e-commerce channels (WooCommerce, Bol.com, Wayfair, Channable) and multiple supplier, financing and shipping APIs. Background tasks run via cronjobs and queues, and the middleware exposes four web interfaces (admin panel, supplier shipment scans, customer return forms, and an accounting reporting tool). The system was built with PHP 7.4 and Symfony 5, backed by MySQL 8, RabbitMQ and Redis, containerized with Docker, hosted on a private VPS, and monitored with Sentry.

Project Outcome

  • Maintenance and improvement of existing CMS functions
  • New shipping rules implemented for existing shipping providers
  • Interfaces created for stock locations, shipping rules, and account management
  • Features added to revenue-reporting CSVs and updated e-mail templates
  • Dashboards and reporting tools created for revenues, costs and customer service
  • API integrations completed with new payment service provider and shipment company
  • Improved communication and direct access to experienced programmers via Skype and Asana
