Project Summary

An educational e-commerce company hired BrainX Technologies to build a quiz plugin and dashboard for exam prep. The beta completed in Dec. 2019 and the app launched in 2020; BrainX worked on bugs and feature fixes through 2021. The plugin experienced persistent functionality problems (timeouts, incorrect scoring, data loss) that required fixes and ultimately led the client to rebuild the plugin with another developer.

Project Solution

BrainX Technologies developed a custom quiz plugin and an administration dashboard for the client's WordPress site, following the client's detailed design plan. The plugin was integrated with the Wish List Member membership plugin and used AJAX calls to communicate with the host server. BrainX delivered a beta in Dec. 2019, launched the plugin in 2020, and performed bug fixes and feature work through 2021 while communicating via Skype and a project management tool.

Project Outcome

  • All major bugs were ultimately fixed by Summer 2021
  • The client saw a sales bump in Spring 2021 potentially related to other improvements and the quiz app
  • The plugin design caused heavy AJAX traffic which generated large server overage charges
  • The vendor left without providing a plugin map, leaving the client with approximately $15k in losses
