Project Summary

Binariks developed a distributed webservice system, a mobile agent, and an Android SDK to modernize a fingerprint-scanner ecosystem. They rebuilt the SDK and delivered an MVP that connects internal users, devices, and backend services; the team follows Scrum and provides regular status reporting via Jira and Confluence. The client reports high satisfaction and that the delivered software is now core to company operations.

Key Challenges

  • Build a web application and related Xamarin/mobile applications and rebuild the existing SDK
  • Monitor scanner activities and collect and analyze metrics
  • Roll out smooth updates to existing client applications without requiring client app reinstalls

Project Deliverables

  • SDK Android service APK
  • Agent APK (Xamarin Forms) for device registration and log shipping
  • Distributed network webservice system (Docker Swarm-based webservices)

Project Solution

Binariks implemented multiple components to modernize the client's scanner ecosystem: an Android SDK service APK (Kotlin) to decouple client apps from the scanner C++ SDK; an Agent app built with Xamarin Forms for device registration and sending scanner logs to the server; and a distributed network of webservices deployed as a Docker Swarm stack to manage users and devices, process and verify logs, and forward data to head office. The implementation used C#, ASP.NET Core 3.1, Blazor, MySQL, Grafana, Hangfire, and automation scripts.

Project Outcome

  • An MVP was delivered and is undergoing iterative optimization
  • The vendor quickly understood industry-specific demands and adapted to client processes
  • The delivered software became core to company operations, connecting employees, invoices, delivery notes, and machines
  • The client reported high satisfaction and ongoing support responsiveness from the vendor
