Project Summary

Acropolium provided shared IT services and development teams to build an internal set of shared services for a tech migration and management company to manage subscriptions and Office365 tenants. The vendor delivered a proof of concept, implemented modular services using C# and React, and helped evolve the offering into a platform used by the majority of the client's SaaS products. The team used Scrum/Kanban practices and Azure DevOps for coordination and releases.

Key Challenges

  • Need for an internal set of shared services to allow partners to manage subscriptions and organizations flexibly
  • Complexity of managing multiple Office365 tenants
  • Requirement to design modular, scalable services and split bounded contexts for maintainability

Project Deliverables

  • Proof of concept for new shared services
  • Modular libraries and services split by bounded contexts
  • Shared services platform used by the client's SaaS products
  • Back-end components in C# and front-end components in React

Project Solution

Acropolium delivered an initial proof of concept and then implemented a modular set of shared services. The team applied Domain-Driven Design to identify bounded contexts and split functionality into dedicated libraries/services. Multiple specialized teams (led by team leads) implemented backend services in C# and front-end components in React, coordinating work via Azure DevOps and using Scrum with Kanban where appropriate. Team composition and size were dynamically adjusted to meet product demand.

Project Outcome

  • Grew from a small set of shared services to a full platform used by the majority of the client's SaaS products
  • Established Scrum/Kanban processes and leveraged Azure DevOps for coordinated development and releases
