Project Summary

Working from an existing prototype, Vention (formerly iTechArt Group) transformed a basic analytics tool into a scaled, sellable cloud product. They implemented frontend and backend work (HTML/JavaScript/D3.js frontend; Python/PostgreSQL backend) on AWS, improved flow, speed, stability, and added user-facing reporting functionality. The vendor delivered reliable, timely technical work, communicated consistently, and helped keep the project on schedule.

Key Challenges

  • Create a cloud-based database that allows clients to log in and generate data reports.

Project Deliverables

  • Cloud-based database allowing client logins and data reporting
  • Frontend (HTML/JavaScript-based UI)
  • Backend (Python and PostgreSQL)
  • Scaled, production-ready analytics product derived from a prototype
  • Performance and stability improvements

Project Solution

Before engaging iTechArt Group, we’d already built a prototype with working frontend and backend systems. Vention was tasked with transforming the basic version into a sellable product: they scaled the product and added functionalities to make it more user-friendly, improved the solution’s flow and speed, and increased stability and reliability. In terms of technology, they used HTML and JavaScript in the frontend and Python and PostgreSQL in the backend, and the product was deployed on AWS. The engagement was staffed with one frontend developer (rotating) and one backend developer (consistent), and the vendor provided experienced resources as requirements shifted. The client found the vendor via Clutch and invested a bit over $70,000; the team worked together from June–December 2018.

Project Outcome

  • The client was very happy with the results and the delivered product
  • The vendor provided accurate estimates up front and prepared for unintended challenges, helping keep the project on schedule
  • The team communicated consistently (long calls every other day plus continuous communication) and maintained a productive working relationship
  • Deliverables were produced on time, and the vendor flexibly rotated staff to accommodate changes in project direction
