Project Summary

Unicsoft converted a faulty proof-of-concept into a production-grade, cloud-based IoT monitoring solution for an industrial component manufacturer, onboarding roughly 50 B2B clients. The vendor redesigned the notifications engine, built high-performance backend services to handle large data volumes, and delivered CMS and dashboards. The engagement has been ongoing since 2014, with strong project management, documentation, and a customer-oriented approach that met aggressive exhibition-driven deadlines.

Key Challenges

  • Deliver a cloud-based IoT monitoring solution for high-reliability industrial applications
  • Fix and stabilize an existing live but faulty system
  • Scale backend to handle large and growing data volumes
  • Provide proactive downtime detection and notifications so issues are known before users report them

Project Deliverables

  • Cloud-based IoT monitoring platform
  • Notifications engine with diagnostics and analytics
  • Backend services in Go
  • CMS and admin dashboards (Django)
  • Frontend (AngularJS)
  • AWS-based infrastructure
  • Documentation and wiki

Project Solution

Unicsoft took the system from a proof of concept to a fully developed, production-ready cloud IoT monitoring platform. They executed phased work starting with a code review and prioritized fixes, then redesigned the notifications engine to add diagnostics and analytics, and built backend processing in Go to handle large asynchronous data flows. The CMS and dashboards were implemented in Django with an AngularJS frontend, and the whole infrastructure runs on AWS. They also provided project management, QA, documentation (wiki), and ongoing support.

Project Outcome

  • System became reliably operational within 2–3 months after remediation
  • Around 50 B2B clients onboarded with 10–50 users per client
  • Collected roughly 10 terabytes of values within a year, demonstrating scalable data handling
  • Consistently met exhibition-driven release deadlines (generally on time with minor delays)
  • Ongoing engagement with continued development and strong documentation enabling handoffs
