Project Summary

The vendor built a Xamarin-based cross-platform application that displays 3D positioning and real-time trajectories of personnel in ad hoc or GPS-denied environments. The solution visualizes beacon-provided indoor locations and tracks movement for use cases such as firefighting and search-and-rescue. The product remains in early research stages but has generated excitement among intended users.

Key Challenges

  • Display 3D positioning accurately in ad hoc or GPS-denied environments
  • Achieve high accuracy and error-free performance for critical use cases (firefighters, hostile-environment training, search-and-rescue)
  • Ensure resilience to environmental and weather conditions including no visibility, heavy rain, air pressure fluctuations, and temperature changes

Project Deliverables

  • Cross-platform mobile application
  • Real-time 3D personnel positioning UI
  • Beacon position and trajectory visualization
  • Location and trajectory tracking functionality

Project Solution

The vendor developed a Xamarin-based cross-platform application that displays the position and trajectory of multiple beacons on a UI, measuring and tracking the momentary location of moving personnel. The engagement included R&D support and a team comprising a Xamarin programmer with a single project manager as the primary contact.

Project Outcome

  • The early-stage application generated buzz and excitement among firefighters and search-and-rescue teams.
