Project Summary

TATEEDA provided custom software development for an industrial manufacturing client, augmenting the client's staff to deliver Windows C# / WPF expertise for an automated electro-mechanical system. The vendor reused and integrated with an existing, largely undocumented software interface framework and added new interface screens to control and monitor the device. The project experienced pandemic-related delays and requirement changes, but the system has been generally solid and Tateeda demonstrated strong Windows expertise and rapid issue resolution.

Key Challenges

  • Shortage of in-house Windows programmers with deep expertise in C# / MVVM / WPF
  • Need to create a shippable, automated mechanical system that met performance and user interface requirements
  • Integrating and reusing a largely undocumented existing software interface framework

Project Deliverables

  • Desktop application using WPF
  • New interface screens to control and monitor the electro-mechanical device
  • Integration and reuse of an existing (largely undocumented) software interface framework
  • Software interface components using reflection and WCF to communicate with device systems

Project Solution

Tateeda augmented the client's engineering staff to provide Windows C# / WPF expertise. They analyzed and reused as much of the client's existing, largely undocumented software interface framework as possible (including components using reflection, WCF, and SQL), then developed additional interface screens and software components to control and monitor the new electro-mechanical device. The vendor participated in the client's workflow via Slack and weekly Skype calls and used Redmine initially, later migrating to JIRA / Crucible / BitBucket for task tracking.

Project Outcome

  • The system has been generally solid despite updated requirements and mechanical changes
  • The client planned a ship date for June 2021
  • Effective collaboration via Slack and weekly Skype calls with task tracking in Redmine then JIRA/Crucible/BitBucket
  • Tateeda demonstrated strong Windows expertise and the ability to rapidly diagnose and fix issues in existing code

Quality of Deliverables

“The project was delayed due to an unexpected pandemic and there were some changes made. But that doesn't stop the team to tirelessly continue with the project's progress. TATEEDA's team is very knowledgeable in coding and able to rectify issues immediately.”
