Project Summary

STX Next built a custom automation ticketing solution (product named Coras) to streamline inefficient ticketing processes and enable scaling. The vendor delivered the full stack: a Django/Python backend, an HTML5/Bootstrap/AngularJS frontend, a MySQL database, and native iOS and Android apps, hosted on AWS. Updated demos generated substantial client interest and the design received highly positive feedback. The engagement is ongoing since November 2015 with regular collaboration and sprint-based velocity improvements.

Key Challenges

  • Promoters and theater owners spent 60 percent of their working week on inefficient ticketing processes
  • Existing ticketing processes had been automated without eliminating bad processes, blocking scalability
  • The client needed to develop a new product (Coras) and required quality external developers to build and scale it

Project Deliverables

  • Native iOS and Android applications
  • HTML5 responsive front end (Bootstrap/AngularJS)
  • Backend using Django and Python
  • MySQL database
  • Platform hosted on Amazon EC2 with AWS OpsWorks and CloudFront

Project Solution

STX Next developed the client's solution end-to-end, handling coding, testing and design. The backend was built with Django and Python, the front end is an HTML5 responsive layout using Bootstrap and AngularJS, and MySQL is used for data storage. The team produced native iOS and Android applications and hosted the platform on AWS EC2, using AWS OpsWorks for configuration and CloudFront as a CDN. The vendor worked collaboratively with the client's CTO and product manager, using daily calls and tools such as JIRA and Slack for planning and backlog management.

Project Outcome

  • Updated demos generated strong client interest and intent to use the product
  • Design and interface received phenomenal feedback
  • Velocity and per-person efficiency increased on a sprint-by-sprint basis
