Project Summary

Mutual Mobile developed an Electron-based desktop app (PC and Mac) as a 1.0 beta for BeatBiz, building from InVision prototypes and Sketch designs. The product includes multi-musician management and a Chartmetric-powered artist dashboard. The beta is in private hands and has received constructive feedback that will inform a planned 2.0. The vendor was praised for responsiveness, effective project management across an 8–9 hour time difference, and multi-channel communication.

Key Challenges

  • Build a functional beta to validate the BeatBiz concept
  • Create a cross-platform Electron app that works on both PC and Mac
  • Obtain beta customer feedback to inform changes for version 2.0

Project Deliverables

  • Electron desktop app for PC and Mac
  • Artist dashboard integrated with Chartmetric API
  • I-frame based multi-application navigation
  • Artist account switching feature

Project Solution

Mutual Mobile reviewed the client's InVision prototypes and Sketch designs, then used their India office to develop, build, and deploy an Electron-based desktop app that runs on PC and Mac. They implemented an artist dashboard integrated with Chartmetric's API, created an i-frame to navigate across multiple business and music applications, and added features to switch between artist accounts. The team included project managers and front- and backend developers and coordinated via Slack, Jira, and email to manage time-zone differences and sprint delivery.

Project Outcome

  • Beta distributed to leading artist management firms in Austin
  • Positive customer feedback with identified enhancements for a planned v2.0
  • Effective project management and responsiveness despite an 8–9 hour time difference
  • On-time delivery supported by multi-channel communication

Quality of Deliverables

We got helpful feedback from customers on the beta, and we're now talking with Mutual Mobile about building a 2.0 version. What's stood out so far is how responsive they are and how well they've handled a big time difference. Staying in touch through several channels helped them deliver on time.
