Project Summary

Left Right Mind developed a customer-facing iOS application for a home maintenance and remodeling company to manage work orders and let customers request services. The app integrates with the client's QuickBase cloud backend to expose customer-specific data and create new records. The client invested approximately $30,000; the app has been well received by customers despite some personnel turnover and QA hiccups, and maintenance and feature additions are ongoing.

Key Challenges

  • Make communication with customers easier
  • Enable customers to order services through a mobile application
  • Transition traditionally analog home-service processes to a digital, trackable workflow
  • Integrate the mobile app with the client's existing QuickBase backend

Project Deliverables

  • iOS mobile application
  • QuickBase API integration/backend connectivity
  • Customer-facing work order and service request features
  • Notifications and estimate approval workflow
  • Ongoing maintenance and feature updates

Project Solution

Left Right Mind built an iOS-only mobile application and connected it to the client's existing QuickBase cloud backend via its API. The app exposes customer-specific records from QuickBase and allows customers to request new services, upload photos, set urgency, request estimates, approve estimates, and receive notifications about appointments. Following an initial December 2014 launch, Left Right Mind has continued to provide maintenance and add features.

Project Outcome

  • No formal metrics available but the app produced real customer-impact stories such as a gas-leak emergency request with a 45-minute response
  • The app has been well received by customers and influenced some customers' decision to use the company's services
  • Client reports overall satisfaction with vendor responsiveness despite personnel turnover and QA issues
