Project Summary

Impressit was engaged to provide senior iOS engineering support for a regulated mobile health product to stabilise the codebase and lead production releases. They recovered and released a delayed iOS production build, then continued to deliver subsequent releases on schedule while reducing regressions. The team worked closely with the client’s product, research, and QA teams in an Agile/Scrum model and provided mentoring to a junior engineer to improve internal capability.

Key Challenges

  • Rescue our iOS UI upgrade project.
  • Release our Class IIa product.

Project Deliverables

  • Rapid onboarding onto a complex, regulated iOS codebase.
  • Completion and release of a critical iOS app update (production build).
  • Ongoing ownership of subsequent iOS releases, enhancements, and maintenance.
  • Implementation of cross-platform functionality via plugins to extend feature coverage beyond iOS.
  • Mentoring and day-to-day support for a junior iOS engineer to build internal capability.

Project Solution

Impressit provided senior iOS engineering support to stabilise and take ownership of an existing regulated iOS codebase, address technical debt left by a previous contractor, and lead the delivery of a delayed production release. They performed rapid onboarding, implemented cross-platform plugins to extend functionality beyond iOS, collaborated with the client's product, research, and QA teams within an Agile/Scrum model, and mentored a junior iOS engineer to build internal capability.

Project Outcome

  • The delayed iOS production build was successfully recovered and released, meeting external partner and regulatory commitments.
  • Subsequent iOS releases were delivered on schedule with fewer regressions.
  • Ownership of the iOS codebase became predictable and well-structured, reducing delivery risk.
  • Cross-platform functionality was extended through multiple plugins, enabling feature availability beyond iOS.
  • Internal capability improved via mentoring, reducing dependency risk and lowering operational burden.
