Project Summary

Kilburn Live engaged GIGA IT to build a web-based activation scoring system (Game Hub) and several Unity3D AR mobile apps for iOS and Android for in-venue use. GIGA IT delivered a functional, mostly bug-free event system on time, using Scrum two-week sprints and tools such as Jira and MS Teams for collaboration. The vendor demonstrated flexibility, nimbleness in staffing, and trustworthy communication throughout the engagement.

Key Challenges

  • Develop a web-based activation scoring system integrated with the FEC's RFID access-control system
  • Create Unity3D AR mobile applications for iOS and Android for in-venue visitor experiences
  • Assemble a near-shore development team quickly to meet tight project start and deployment timelines
  • Manage late change requests while still meeting the venue opening deadline

Project Deliverables

  • Web-based activation scoring system (Game Hub)
  • Unity3D augmented reality mobile applications for iOS and Android
  • Integration with the FEC's RFID access-control system
  • CI/CD and version control setup via GitHub

Project Solution

GIGA IT assembled a near-shore development team quickly and implemented a six-month engagement to build the Game Hub production activation scoring system integrated with the venue's pay-to-play RFID access-control system. They extended the Game Hub to support additional activations and concurrently developed several Unity3D augmented reality mobile applications for iOS and Android in separate six- to eight-week efforts. The web stack included MongoDB, NestJS, Vue.js, PlayFab and Netlify, with GitHub used for version control and CI/CD; the mobile apps were built in Unity3D.

Project Outcome

  • Met timeline for the FEC opening despite late change requests
  • Deployed system to production with only a few post-deployment issues and follow-up UI/UX tweaks
  • Effective Scrum process (two-week sprints) with Jira and MS Teams supported timely communication and delivery
