Project Summary
Tinder hired Forte Group to expand testing for its flagship mobile and web apps, with the goal of increasing test coverage and reducing the QA cycle. Forte Group was selected after interviews and a technical assessment and onboarded testers and a separate test automation team, embedding resources into product PODs. As a result, the client found more bugs earlier in the cycle and avoided post-release hotfixes, while automation coverage increased.
Key Challenges
- Expand testing services for flagship Tinder mobile and web apps
- Increase testing coverage and decrease QA cycle time
- Embed QEs into functional teams to improve transparency and testing during the development cycle
- Increase test automation coverage for faster feedback
Project Deliverables
- Onboarded manual testing team embedded into PODs
- Onboarded a separate Test Automation team focused on key product features
- Defined and implemented a new release/QA process
- Increased automated test coverage (smoke/regression)
- Ongoing manual and automation test execution across web and mobile
Project Solution
After interviewing three vendors, Forte Group was selected for their English proficiency and mobile testing and automation experience. Forte onboarded an initial team for a dry run, iterated the release/QA process over two release cycles, and then embedded testers into each functional POD. A separate Test Automation team was onboarded with engineering leads and tasked with technical user stories to increase automation coverage for key product features. A QA Lead in California oversaw the manual testing operation while web, iOS, and Android testers and automation engineers reported into product and engineering leads.
Project Outcome
- Zero hotfixes in Q2
- Majority of bugs were found prior to the release branch cut rather than after
- More bugs were fixed during the development cycle for new features
- Test automation coverage increased from 4.30% of the smoke test suite to 10% of the entire regression suite

Quality of Deliverables
“Thanks to the contributions of the Forte Group team, the company was able to find more bugs before and fix them during the development cycle. This resulted in the company not having to resort to any hotfixes after the launch of their new features.”
