Project Summary

Finture delivered legacy system and Akeneo integration services for a large retail brand (M&Co), building modular order integration components and connecting custom applications to legacy product systems. The team used .NET Core and RabbitMQ, integrated with a legacy Oracle database, and worked in an agile process with daily meetings and Slack communication. After launch, the client reported the best order ingestion and dispatch times they had seen, with timely delivery and positive stakeholder feedback.

Key Challenges

  • Integrate new applications and services with existing legacy product systems
  • Integrate with a new Akeneo setup and ensure minimal disruption during a hard deadline switchover
  • Implement a modern, flexible design to allow quick changes with minimal operational disruption

Project Deliverables

  • Order importer, order updater and orchestrator components
  • Akeneo integration
  • RabbitMQ message queuing integration
  • Legacy Oracle database integration

Project Solution

Finture split the project into focused areas (Akeneo, website order integration, legacy event interaction, reconciliation) and implemented a modular order integration comprised of an Order importer, Order updater and an Orchestrator. The implementations were built primarily in .NET Core, integrated with RabbitMQ for messaging, and connected to the legacy Oracle database while keeping the core features database-agnostic. The team used agile practices, daily standups and Microsoft Dev Ops for sprint management.

Project Outcome

  • Achieved the best order ingestion and time-to-dispatch results ever recorded by M&Co
  • Delivered key features and smaller projects on time with positive stakeholder feedback
  • Maintained stable staffing with timely communication via daily meetings and Slack
